New MIK Customers

Dear customers, partners and friends of MIK,

“He who mixes the pleasant with the useful gains everyone's approval.” (Horace)

In this case, the new SQL Connector is not the only useful feature included in the new version MIK-BIS 2.5. that was recently released. Very little training is needed and centralized storage of documents makes using this program much easier. Working with the new dashboards that allow for performance indicators to be presented in a more appealing manner is also quite comfortable. In this respect, we look forward to hearing some praise, but also any criticisms or suggestions you might have for us, either by e-mail, mail or at one of our upcoming events.

MIK-BIS gets to the heart of things
New Version 2.5. includes the MIK-BIS SQL Connector Module

MIK has now introduced version 2.5 of its comprehensive BI solution MIK-BIS for use by companies of all sizes and industries. The new version includes a multitude of integrated business management functionalities.

“We place special importance on making sure our solutions meet the actual needs of the users. As a result, we were able to inject a lot of the experience and demands we’ve learned about in working with current MIK-BIS customer projects into the latest version,” explains Michael Moritz, Chairman of MIK AG. For instance, the new MIK-BIS SQL Connector Module allows drilling through into sub-systems.

New dashboards offer numerous possibilities to present indicators in an appealing and intuitive manner. Additional ready-made functionalities speed up and simplify the development of applications. Furthermore, the performance of MIK-BIS has been improved even further.

MIK-BIS is based on .NET, the most modern software architecture offered by Microsoft. As a result, implementation, interfaces, administration and training do not require a lot of work and centralized storage of data and documents ensures full data integrity. The MIK-BIS solution, with its various modules, is designed for use by various types of users ranging from board members to financial controllers and employees in expert departments. Unlimited communication is also available via Intranet/Internet.

This means the new platform meets virtually all of the demands with respect to analysis, planning, reporting and presentation across the entire company and, thus, helps organizations adapt quickly to constantly changing market conditions.

MIK and Cubeware Extend ETL Cooperation
MIK AG and Cubeware GmbH have extended their agreement to continue to work together in the area of sales for at least another two years with respect to ETL (Extraction, Transformation, Loading). The agreement calls for MIK to continue to use the ETL tool Cubeware Importer under the name MIK-INTERFACE in its own OLAP implementations.

“We are pleased to be in a position to extend our many years of cooperation to an even higher level. ETL is of great importance to a BI solution, because clean importation of data represents an important prerequisite for a successful analytical environment. This is why we provide strong support to our customers in implementing the product and in managing technical issues,” comments Michael Moritz, Chairman of MIK AG.

"The OEM business we do with our BI products allows us to reach out to a broader user base,” explains Hermann Hebben, Managing Director of Cubeware GmbH in Rosenheim. "For this reason, we are pleased with MIK’s decision to continue to rely on the leading ETL technology from Cubeware," he adds.

The MIK-INTERFACE product family offers a solution for importing data from operational sub-systems or a data warehouse into a multi-dimensional database in ways that can be automated. This ETL tool is used to load data from various sub-systems, such as SAP, into the OLAP database from MIK both easily and in a structured manner.

New MIK Customer:
Mercedes-AMG Selects MIK-BIS
Mercedes-AMG GmbH has made a name for itself as the high-performance brand inside DaimlerChrysler AG and specializes in manufacturing and developing engines and motor vehicles for premium segment customers. Since it was first founded as a racing engine builder in 1967, the company has continued to grow at a rapid pace, particularly since it became part of the DaimlerChrysler Group in 1999. Today, at its headquarters in Affalterbach near Stuttgart, the company employs some 725 people who produce approximately 20,000 motors per year.

As a result of the considerable growth it has been experiencing, the company was in need of a management information system that would facilitate better decision making. Controlling also urgently required a solution for analyzing the information it provides to management more effectively and quickly. “Because our experience in working with software from MIK at our plant in Berlin has been very positive, we also decided in favour of a solution from MIK for our site in Affalterbach,” commented Steffen Schulze, Project & Product Controlling (TL Motor/Power Train) at Mercedes-AMG. Initial applications on the basis of MIKsolution commenced in July of 2006. Then, at the end of September/beginning of October, AMG switched over to MIK-BIS. Today, the complete project controlling system is already being supported by the system. By the end of the year, construction of a complete corporate model will have been completed.

“In my opinion, MIK-BIS represents a flexible and yet easy to use information system that is capable of addressing a broad spectrum of requirements at the same time. I really appreciate the ability it gives us to further develop the system quickly on site. Furthermore, achieving Excel integration was of great importance to us, because we also use Excel as a planning took,” Schulze explains.

In his opinion, a controller can do his work more quickly, more easily and more reliably with the help of software from MIK. “We’re now moving away from searching for and taking care of data towards actually analyzing our data. At the same time, quick access to information is simply essential for us in managing our business,” says Schulze. Currently, approx. 12 employees in controlling are using this solution. By the end of the year, members of management will also be using the software in the form of the MIK-Presentation module.
